Your gift will help both to support all the ongoing Projects and to provide education for needy children, so they will have an incentive to go to school and the energy to focus on their studies.
While disease and hunger are a leading cause of childhood mortality in Zambia, they are also very preventable.
Most Zambians rely on subsistence farming and are not formally employed, while those who do have jobs typically earn less than $100 per month. The decline of the copper mining industry put many people out of work, and ever since then it has been a challenge for families to afford enough food to survive. Malnutrition is a major cause of child mortality in Zambia and leads to stunted growth, lethargy, and disease. The Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi have a heart for the needs of these disabled and impoverished children. They have partnered with DaGama Onlus to rescue children from the margins of society and provide for their nutritional and educational needs at the DaGama Catholic schools in Luanshya, Zambia.
The Franciscan Missionary Sisters founded the DaGama schools as a refuge where physically disabled and impoverished children can be valued and accepted for who they are, while benefiting from a quality education and daily nutritious meals they might not get at home.
But we cannot do all this without your help:
